Morning friends!
On a scale of Jewish to Rudolph, how much are you feeling the Christmas spirit right now?!
[source]
I'll be honest, before this past weekend, it didn't feel a tinsel like Christmas. Yet somehow, slapping on an elf hat, painting on rosy cheeks, and getting drunk with a hundred other Christmas spectacles at Santacon seemed to give me a hit of the holiday spirit.
Speaking of spirits, let's start off with the one, the only drink of the season. NOG.
Love it. Hate it. It's still the spirit of Christmas in a fat and sugar laden glass of eggs and cream. Topped with nutmeg. Festive!
But I love it. Mostly mixed into my morning glass of coffee since it's just a little heavy. Not to mention a hefty 170 calories for HALF A CUP. AKA like two sips.
So I used my noggin to get a-noggin', but healthy enough to drink for breakfast.
That's where my first experience with Blue Diamond's Almondmilk / Cashewmilk blend comes in. I knew cashew milk was a bit creamier than almond milk, which would work wonders on trying to replicate the 170 calorie richness of nog, with 25 calorie nut milk.
High in protein, but that creamy dreamy sweetness you know in love. Or hate. I'll be changing that now. 😉

Description
This High Protein Eggnog Smoothie is a healthy recipe to start off the holidays, or any day. A festive vegetarian and gluten-free breakfast on the go!

- 1 cup Blue Diamond Almondmilk / Cashewmilk Blend
- 1 banana, peeled and frozen
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- ¼ cup pasteurized liquid egg substitute
- 1 teaspoon rum flavoring
- nutmeg
Instructions
- In a blender, add milk, banana, protein powder, egg substitute, and rum flavoring.
- Blend on high for 30 seconds, or until mixture is thoroughly combined.
- Pour into serving glass, and top with a dash of nutmeg.
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Category: Breakfast, Holidays
Keywords: smoothie, eggnog, protein, breakfast, beverage
Instead of pulling a Rocky and downing some raw eggs in your morning nog, using the egg substitutes that are pasteurized eliminates the risk of salmonella, or the urge to run of giant flights of stairs.
Plus they give you an extra satisfying protein boost to power you through the holidays!
And don't forget the rum extract...or if the holidays are getting a little too stressful, add a shot of the good stuff. 😉

This looks delicious! As a kid, I never liked eggnog but it has definitely grown on me. After enjoying a pint of eggnog gelato this weekend, I think I need to try this healthy option!
