Watermelon Frosé (Frozen Rosé) Cocktail

Watermelon Frosé Recipe-- A frozen rosé cocktail that is sure to be your new favorite summer cocktail! Made with no refined sugar or juice. Perfect for any summer party!

If you happen to have left overs (on the rare occasion), or want to enjoy this for one, you can make a batch, and then freeze the prepared cocktail into ice cube molds. When you're ready to enjoy one, simply pop a few of the frosé ice cubes into a blender and you're good to go.

Hand Holding Cup of Watermelon Frosé Recipe

I especially adore cocktails that involve wine, frosty cups, and summer fruits. I don't know exactly what the summer has planned for me, but I know that it is going to involve LOTS of these poolside.

Ingredients you'll need to make this

  • rosé wine
  • watermelon
  • lime juice
  • lime seltzer
  • watermelon vodka (optional)
  • fresh wedges of watermelon (for garnish)

Instructions

Start by pouring a 750 ml bottle or rosé wine evenly into 2 ice cube molds. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. Wine will not freeze completely due to the alcohol content, but should be a firm-slushy texture.
Add 3 cups of cubed watermelon to a rimmed baking sheet, or freezer-friendly container, and freeze along with rosé.

Blending of Ingredients for Watermelon Frosé Recipe

Once the watermelon and rosé are frozen, add to a blender, along with 4 tablespoons of lime juice (or juice from 2 limes), ½ cup of lime seltzer, and 3 ounces of watermelon vodka if using. Blend on high until mixture is smooth and blended. If mixture is too thick, add more seltzer until it reaches desired texture. Pour evenly amongst 4 glasses, and garnish with fresh watermelon wedges if desired.

Blended Watermelon Frosé Recipe in Blender

Pro Tips:

  • Serve scorpion bowl-style by adding cocktail to a hollowed out half of a watermelon!
  • Make it non-alcoholic by swapping out the rosé for sparking white grape juice, and leaving out the vodka.
  • Add flavor variations by adding in frozen raspberries or strawberries.
  • Have leftovers? Freeze the mixture into ice cube molds, and blend on demand for a quick cocktail!

FAQs

My rosé wine isn't fully frozen. What did I do wrong?

Nothing! Due to the alcohol content, the wine won't fully freeze, but should be a firm, slushy-like texture. As long as it is more solid than liquid, you're good!

How do you make this non-alcoholic?

You can simply replace the rosé with a sparkling white grape juice, and leave out the vodka. You may need to add more seltzer since the grape juice will fully freeze.

My mixture is too thick, and won't pour. What do I do?

Simply add a splash or two more of seltzer until the mixture fully blends, and is pourable.

Money-Saving Tips for this Recipe:

  • Shop the sales. Grab the wine and watermelon when it's on sale. You can always freeze them ahead of time, and make the most of store sales, while also being able to make these in a pinch.
  • Buy store-brand. Utilize store brands for the seltzer to cut costs, without sacrificing flavor or quality.

Hmm. These do look good. I don't drink alcohol though. I might have to play around with this recipe and see if I can make it with something else, maybe La Croix or Bai.

This looks so yummy and refreshing! I love that it doesn't have any added sugar either! I just made a yummy watermelon whiskey sour a few weeks ago with some fresh watermelon. It's a great way to use up extra watermelon.
