Let's be real...sometimes the cookie dough is better than the actual cookie. I mayyy have awoken to the craving of a spoonful of cookie dough once or twice in my life. I'm always looking for new overnight oat inspiration, so why can't cookie dough overnight oats be in the realm of possibility?
Ingredients you'll need to make this
- rolled oats
- low-fat milk
- low-fat plain Greek yogurt
- brown sugar
- vanilla extract
- chocolate chips
In a bowl or jar, combine ½ cup rolled oats, ½ cup low-fat milk, ¼ cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt, 1-2 teaspoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips.
Store in refrigerator uncovered overnight or at least 4 hours. When ready to eat, stir, and top with additional chocolate chips if desired.
- For added texture and nutrition, add a tablespoon of chopped walnuts or peanuts.
- Storing uncovered gives these oats an extra thick texture. If you want a thinner texture, store oats covered, or add more milk.
- Make extra chocolatey by stirring in ½ tablespoon of cocoa powder to the oats before refrigerating.
How long do these oats last?
These overnight oats last about 3 days in the refrigerator.
Can these overnight oats be heated?
Yes. Once they are soaked, the overnight oats can be warmed in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute, or until heated through. Do not overheat for risk of the yogurt breaking and separating.
Are these vegan?
As they are made, no they are not vegan-friendly. You can make some simple changes to make them vegan. Replace the milk and yogurt with dairy-free alternatives, and use dairy-free chocolate chips.
Money-Saving Tips for these Oats
Buy in bulk. Purchase the items you use frequently such as oats, yogurt, or milk in large sizes if it is financially feasible. These tend be a better value than smaller sizes.
Shop store brands. Opt for store brands on items such as oats, milk, yogurt, salt, and chocolate chips. Store brands tend to cost less without sacrificing taste or quality.
