Holla back young’n (woo! woo!) it’s hump day!
I blame Monday holidays and 1/2 a bottle of vodka for the fact that I’m still not entirely sure what day it is.
The fourth was a blast though. Full of poolside beverages, cakes on fire, and the one day I get to bust out my red hat society look.
There was also an epic flag cake that thank the stars and stripes didn’t set off the fire alarm for our entire building.
And my less than epic square-shaped veggie flag.
In my defense, the spinach and artichoke hummus I made to go along with was capital C crushed even without a fire and light show. Boom.
And now for the real firework show.
I love eating with the seasons, eating all the cold foods in summer, all the pumpkin spiced things in fall, and everything carb in winter. The circle of life my friends.
So when I forget to make overnight oats…overnight, I just make some regular oats, and cool it down with some frozen fruit and almond milk.
“It’s so hot. Hot oats are a bad choice.”
Words to live by.
I passed the mid-morning rush of boredom with half a lemon Quest bar I had lying around and some unpictured carrots. If we’re still trying to convince me Quest bars are good, the lemon flavor was a bad decision. It tasted like a stale piece of taffy. Don’t worry, I still ate it.
Maybe it was the half a flag cake and vodka sodas to blame, but I wasn’t super duper hungry throughout the day, and had a late lunch of some salad that probably resembled the above while watching an episode of the Michael Pollan docu-series, Cooked on the flix. Did I just make up a nickname for Netflix? This is what my life is coming to…
To cool down, (sarcasm) I did a power yoga sesh to pump me up for Maine YogaFest this weekend (!!) which I am so excited for. Who’s joining me for the glitter dance party and black light yoga sessions?!
I wasn’t super hungry for dinner, so snacked on some leftover watermelon before taking a walk for some ice cream with the man friend.
I am never too full for ice cream, especially in summer….and when it’s homemade coffee ice cream WITH flippin coffee beans in it.
P.S Cone in the cup is the way to go. In the wise words of Hannah Montana, “you get the best of both worlds….”
Make it a great day!
What did you do for the fourth?
Favorite ice cream flavor?
