Happy hump day folks!
Now that the holiday season is officially over (as of last night when I finally got rid of the Christmas tree), I am officially over the winter season as well. I love me some sweatpants and hoodies, but I’ll soaking up the rays over them any day.
…hello summer my old friend.
But at least we got a day full of eats to share ahead of us. So we got that going for us.
I attempted an orange creamsicle green smoothie this am, which was a soy milk, an orange, 1/2 a carrot, fresh ginger, vanilla protein powder, 1/2 a banana, and green powder.
It mostly tasted like vanilla and ginger, but at least it was super healthy.
Unfortunately it wasn’t nearly as satisfying as I wanted it to be, so was ravenous before lunch. I demolished two clementines since those things are straight up citrus crack to me this time of year.
I think I’m FINALLY coming around to quinoa guys…but only in small doses and mixed with a million other ingredients like this Thai quinoa salad with edamame. Sesame oil and soy sauce can do no wrong. Big surprise, more ‘tines.
….and a vanilla siggi’s because I middle name is bottomless pit today.
I did a quick tabata-style cardio workout once I got home, before mowing down dinner to some classical music and sudoku puzzles. 20-something going on 86…
My usual salmon patty with turmeric and pepper this time, and some braised cabbage and the sad leftover quinoa from the Thai-style recipe. Note: butter definitely helps quinoa’s game.
I guess I chose nearly one of the worst times to go all gung ho on plant-based eats, since my digestive problems have gotten more persistent lately. I cut out coffee (I KNOW) in the hopes that would help alleviate some of the symptoms, but haven’t seen any changes. I’m sure all that cabbage is definitely helping too…
I’ve had some success with the low FODMAP diet in the past, and am planning on giving it another go round…right after all of this bloat-inducing cabbage is out of my fridge.
I snacked on one of MyProtein’s version of a Quest bar in Cookies & Cream flavor, because God knows I needed an extra 20 grams of fiber in today’s meals. Heating these up for a few seconds in the micro is a definite MUST.
Make it a great day!
