WIAW: Is That A Flower Or A Bug?

May 27, 2015 by Emily Cooper 10 Comments

Hello all my sinners and saints! (yes that’s an Alanis Morissette reference)

I am near frying here in NH where we have reached 90 degree territory. If it’s not frigid cold or blizzarding, then it’s most likely blazing hot and dry. No gray area here. And you best bet we will complain about the weather no matter what it’s doing. Welcome to New England.

And upgrading to big girl weights was the answer to my already sweat-drenched state for an upper body lifting sesh. If you’re gunna sweat anyway, might as well make it worth it, right?

Okay, so I can only do 20 lbs max so far, but having a 30+ lb dumbbell makes me feel macho?  manly? BADASS!

All this complaining and sweating has worked up my appetite, so let’s get to eatin’!

Breakfast

IMG_0695.PNGNow that it’s getting warmer, my craving for overnight oats is creeping up on me. Obviously it’s been too long since I’ve made them, since mine ended up looking more like chocolate soup than gooey chocolate covered oats. Soup feels much less filling than chunky oats.

1/2 cup oats // 1 cup unsweetened almond milk // 1 scoop chocolate protein powder // PB2 // unpictured tbsp chunky pb

My new kick is also to add a spoonful of chocolate protein powder and 3-4 drops of my Sweetleaf Peppermint Mocha stevia drops to my morning joe. It’s like a protein-filled mocha latte. Addicted!

Lunch

My afternoon meal is where things got interesting..and punny of course.

IMG_0672.PNG

Kale salad // Wholly Guacamole 90 calorie pack // Mediterrean-style tuna (Starkist) // cucumber // random piece of chicken

When I noticed something yellah amidst my sea of kale.

IMG_0691.PNG

I honestly couldn’t tell if it was part of a flower or a bug, but was glad it didn’t enter my mouth either way.

IMG_0694.PNGObviously it takes a lot to gross me out since I plowed through the rest of my salad and onto what meals are really about. A sweet ending. In the form of a chocolate protein ball. Remind me to give you that recipe soon!

Snack

IMG_0693.PNGA mid-work snack called for a handful of almonds

IMG_0692.PNGAnd a little but juicy-ass peach. It tasted like pure summer.

IMG_0690.PNG

And a completely necessary iced coffee run with a co-worker.

Iced Americano // Sugar-Free Salted Caramel Torani Syrup

Dinner

IMG_0699.PNG

I was sneaky and snapped a pic during family meal time.

Herbed pork tenderloin // tomato salad // peas

Pork tenderloin is giving my beloved chicken a run for its money. And tomato salad is right up there with the peach for summer flavor. I love it all.

Shout out to Jenn & friends for hosting!

Make it a great day!

Do you think it was a bug or a flower?

What’s one thing that really grosses you out with food?

That tomato salad looks great! But we serve ours with onions and let it sit in balsamic italian dressing for a couple hours before serving. So dang delicious. And I’m glad you didn’t eat that flower/bug, gross!!!

Balsamic and tomatoes have my heart. Almost as much as pb and carrots. 🙂

That thing in your salad is a little freaky. More power to you for barreling through.

Thanks for linking up, and Happy WIAW!

Girl- now you have me nostalgic for some Alanis. I am off to go put “One Hand In My Pocket” 😉
I love chunky peanut butter and I actually ate a lot of it on the WIAW I did today. SO good, right?
One thing that really grosses me out with food is dry bread. I don’t know why, but it really irritates me!

Maybe some chunky pb would help out that dry bread? 😉 haha!

Sorry but it looks like a bug to me! I would’ve probably finished my kale anyway though. The only thing stopping me from eating my food is hair! YUCK!

If I know it’s my own hair, I’m good. If it’s clearly long and black, I’m out. UGH!
