    WIAW: Chocolate To Me

August 10, 2016 by Emily Cooper 12 Comments

I've been channeling my inner Cher lately, and wishing I could turn back time, and find a way to put summer on repeat. It's already getting darker at 8 again, leaves are changing colors, and I'm not happy about it.

Now that my pouty pants have been hung out to dry, let's swan dive into my day of eats!

    What I Ate Wednesday Logo

After going back and forth about kicking my butt into gear with Jillian Michaels first thing in the morning, I somehow convinced my body to cooperate and get it done. My arms would like to veto that decision.

The fast was broken with what else for breakfast but, CHOCOLATE.

    Bowl of Chocolate Power O's

I got a box of Chocolate Power O's at the Gluten Free Expo, and mixed them with some plain greek yogurt, ½ scoop chocolate protein powder, and cocoa powder, because why the hell not?!

After a massacre trying to stir all that in a fun size paper bowl, peanut butter was there to heal all battle wounds. Turns out chocolate coated bean cereal is hella good.

A couple of carrots and pb held me over until lunch, but if you've spent two seconds on this blog, you'll know that's a regular occurrence. And if not, wait two more seconds and you'll know. 😉

I'm really great at procrastinating most things, grocery shopping included. I take pleasure in seeing how long I can survive on oatmeal and frozen broccoli.

I like to think it inspires some crafty kitchen endeavors, like this salmon, kale and broccoli concoction.

    Kale and Salmon Salad

I threw in a can of salmon (since I didn't have an egg to make my salmon burgers) in a pan with some CSA kale and frozen broccoli. Over some lettuce greens for maximum greenage, and so I don't break my salad-a-day streak for like 10 years now.

And the last of my Dijon, which is just about the second saddest thing in my world. An empty peanut butter jar? It's like The Notebook, Marley and Me, and Titanic are playing simultaneously in my kitchen. Straight up carnage.

One of the perks of putting off grocery shopping as long as possible?

    Repeat Salmon Salad

You get to eat the salmon meal twice in a row!

Still in the pyrex, eaten cold, cuz I'm lazy AF when it comes to dinner. Plus the addition of some leftover brown rice with butter, which is the only way I can actually eat brown rice.

Call me Aladdin, cuz I am all team Jasmine when it comes to rice. Butter still included.

Plus a strawberry rhubarb Siggi's for dessert, which I alluded to on Instagram earlier.

    Full Fal Siggi's Yogurt

The fuller fat is so much more satisfying, and feels more like an actual dessert than just the probiotic protein-rich snack that it is.

Now if you'll pardon me, I have to go tell summer that it's not too late now to say sorry, because I am missing more than it's body.

    Make it a great day!

    Do you procrastinate about anything?

Team brown or jasmine rice? 6 words..."I can show you the world...."

I totally agree that full fat yogurt is so much more satisfying. I really love the creaminess of it.

And your salmon salad looks and sounds so good!

I come up with the most random lunches/dinners when I need to grow grocery shopping. I can pretty much eat anything, but my husband shakes his head at me, lol. And YES full fat yogurt is so much more satisfying, same with ice cream!

So true! I feel like low fat ice cream is just a tease. I need like 6 bowls to be satisfied!

I bought that yogurt a couple weeks ago...and then promptly forgot it at my parent's house. So I re-bought it yesterday, and can't wait for my afternoon snack tomorrow!

Hahahaha call me Aladdin because I'm team Jasmine. Insert crying face emoji here, haha. I laughed out loud.

Sometimes I avoid the grocery store when we're going out of town or something and my meals definitely get more... creative. haha

team brown jasmine? I love the smell and taste of brown rice a whole lot better but recently (due to tummy issues and white is easier to digest) starting having white jasmine as part of my pre workout. It's good, but definitely lacks in the flava dept next to it's brown jasmine rice cousin.
