It feels good to be back. You know…kinda like that feeling when you got mad at your best friend in 7th grade for laughing at your pit stains in gym class…thinking you’re gunna go and rip that Lisa Frank ‘BBFL’ necklace in half (again), ..only until you make up at recess to totally rock it at Skip It and share a pack of gushers?
…it’s kinda like that. Except it’s food. Wait..what? What’s that face for?! Don’t walk away! Waaaaiiiiitttt!!
Breakfast was something quick since I was running late. You see, I attempted to look put together for once, only to slap on a sweater, throw my mop up in a bun, and call it a day.
2 hard boiled eggs w/ hot sauce and paprika + Golden Delicious Apple w/ cinnamon + Tbsp Peanut Butter
I’m weird and like to eat apples whole and not in slices, but still wanted to eat it with cinnamon. In half it was. At least I had the most restful night sleep in a long time.
Make that forever. PS That 8:35 bedtime was me reading this giant pile of books for an hour.
True Life: How an ADD attention span reads. Moving on!
As this post name implies, and as I mentioned in Monday’s post, I like to strike a balance of carbs, protein, and fats at every meal, and at least two of them with snacks. My mid-morning snackular of
1 chopped red bell pepper + hard boiled egg
Can you tell I like eggs? I forgot I packed one for my snack the night before, but hey I’ll never turn down a HBE. I feel like it takes me a little longer to eat than just a fried egg too. Have you ever tried to cut one of those babies in half?!
Lunch was the usual. Let’s play some Blue’s Clues hooplah, and see if you can spot the carbs, protein, and fat in this meal!
Chopped kale + 1/2 can tuna + 1/2 cup black beans + Tbsp sunflower seeds + tonna hot sauce
Did you get it? Awesome! I knew you could! 😀
..or in case your second guessing yourself, kale and beans are carbs, tuna is protein, and seeds are the fats.
After a walk around downtown for a bit, I came back for a sweet and smiling treat for the afternoon.
Right before I dug my nails into his face and ate his flesh. Who knew eating an orange could be so gory? Too far?
Dinner was typical as usual. You can always tell when you get into a habit when you start repeating the same meals, and not caring. Let’s play again!
Salmon patty + steamed broccoli
I made my usual salmon patty, but added red curry paste to the mix, and it was AMAZING! I was still a bit hungry, so I cooked up a sweet potato and slathered half with pb, and the other with cinnamon.
So protein was salmon, carbs were broccoli and sweet tater, and fats were in salmon and pb. You’re so stellar at this game.
I’ve been trying to do some more yoga in place of running, which is a long story for another post, but bottom line is I haven’t ran since my half marathon in November. I’m still a newbie to the Namaste posse, so this routine was great for me..besides the annoying music towards the end.
And that’s it in a balanced little nutshell! Thanks again Miss Jenn for hosting!
Make it a great day!
Do you try to balance out your meals/snacks?
Any tips for a yoga newbie?
