I’m coming to you a day late and a dollar (or like 200) short after a turkey stuffed weekend of glorious eats, staying up late, and sleeping in. Maybe it’s a blogger faux pas, but I tend to shy away from the interweb during the holidays, and simply just enjoy the time together with the ones I love.
And now it’s the 2nd of December! That means Santa will soon be stuffing his jolly old self down chimneys in 23 short days. So let’s not waste anytime. We’ve got plenty of holiday spirit to sink our teeth into.
Starting with WIAW!
..or Thursday of last week a la Thanksgiving day. Let’s eat!
I started the day like any other normal..ly weird person. With a salad.
Loaded with roasted pork, my first homemade Baba Ganoush, and of course mustard. Totally normal. And I’m okay with that.
Then something cray-cray happened. I went for my first run since my 10k in October.
I’ve been committing to doing Jillian’s 30 Day Shred almost everyday for the past couple weeks, but the gorgeous weather and the soon to be food coma motivated me to strap on my sneaks and hit the road. I did about 3 miles or so without a pace in mind. Sometimes the spontaneous runs are the best ones.
Then it was off to the feast!
My first taste of Thanksgiving day turkey in almost 10 years, my aunt’s famous spinach salad, roasted Brussels sprouts, squash, peas, cranberry sauce, and my favorite sweet gherkin pickles. It’s just not a holiday without it.
Followed up with some pumpkin pie and a scoop of apple pear crisp. I must be losing my sweet tooth, because I didn’t finish either of them. That sangria though… it never stood a chance.
After playing hide and seek, watching football, and having a dance party with my nephews, I still wasn’t too hungry, but I was in desperate need of some hydration.
As the weather cools down, I find it harder to guzzle down an entire nalgene of cold water, but adding some flavor actually does the trick. I’m a big lover of True Lemon products since they’re sweetened with stevia. My newest obsession is the limeade. I’m one shot of tequila away from making this into a margarita…
Once we finally got home around 10, I think I ate an apple in the dark at some point. And probably a carrot with peanut butter for good measure. A girl’s gotta meet her daily quota somehow..
Make it a great day!
