Smoothie Smogasbord

Haaaapppy Monday! Everyone have a good weekend? I know I did. Let me brag to you…

My friend Mike had told me a while back to save the date of August 10, but of course left me in suspense as to what actually was occurring. Jerk. Well once the day finally came, I could not have been a happier gal.

Not only was it the most gorgeous perfect day, it was spent in the great city of Boston.  We started out with a walk down by the harbor to admire and curse out of all the giant boat owners and their mini cruise ships, followed by a quick, but long lunch.

I think it took about 15 hours to finally get our food, and 15 seconds to actually eat it. I got a spicy shrimp wrap with a kimchi coleslaw that came with the skinniest but tastiest fries. They reminded me of the potato sticks that came in a can which lined my lunch box for my entire college elementary career.

While the original plan was to hit up the aquarium the line was longer than the express line at Walmart on Black Friday…NO one has less than 15 items in that line as an FYI.

After exploring the city for the rest of the afternoon, we then went to Dick’s Last Resort which is a must for getting the true heartfelt rudeness that New Englanders are known for. The waitstaff are…well Dicks on purpose, and crown everyone with a glorious hat bearing complimentary quotes such as “I cry after sex” or “Real Blonde. Real Easy.”

Mine was a fitting “I’m not NH trash. Trash gets picked up.” Here’s a pic of Mike’s fabulous crown that achieved a lot of action from 65 year old women.

The grande finale was that we made our way to the best show ever known to man (or blonde vegetarians named Emily) WICKED!

I have been obsessed with this show since I was about 16, and say it for the first time for my 18th birthday. Last night did not disappoint, and assured me that yes, I am still fully obsessed with this show. I will listening to the soundtrack on repeat for the next month, thank you very much. It was such a perfect day, and I can’t thank Mike enough for surprising me. Thank ya, Mike!!

Now that I got that excitement out of the way, let me kill you in on some WICKED good smoothies. As you may know, I’ve been a part of the #ColourfulSmoothie challenge over at The Colourful Palate for the month of August.

Colourful Smoothie August 2013 Challenge

As much as I didn’t think I would enjoy smoothies every morning, I am loving it. I get to be creative with new flavors, and it is the easiest breakfast to have riding into work. After experimenting with some different flavor combos, and finding some favs, I wanted to share this deliciousness with all y’all! Here’s a few of my favorite creations:

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

3/4 cup Soymilk

1/4 plain Greek yogurt

2 T cocoa powder

1 pkt stevia

2 T natural peanut butter

ice cubes

Cucumber Cantaloupe Smoothie

1 cup Soymilk

1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/2 cup cantaloupe, chopped

1/4 cucumber, chopped

1 T honey

ice cubes

Green Tea Papaya Smoothie

1 cup green tea with mango (or plain green tea), cooled

1/2 cup papaya, chopped

1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

ice cubes

Blackberry Peach Smoothie

1 cup Soymilk

1 medium peach, chopped

1/2 cup blackberries

1 T ground flaxseed

ice cubes

Now I didn’t put any directions because it’s pretty simple. Add to blender. Blend. Drink. Also, with the ice cubes, I just filled my blender depending on how much space the other schtuff took up. It usually ended up being about 4-5 ice cubes. Hope you enjoy your week and give a smoothie a try!

What’s your favorite smoothie flavor?

Ever had any smoothie flops?
