Red White & Blue Trail Mix Recipe — A festive and healthy snack idea for all of your Fourth of July celebrations!

Oh Happy (Mon)day! And the last day of June? Say Wahhhhhhttttt?! The only thing that makes these days going by so fast okay is the fact that I will be enjoying my morning (bowl) of coffee in Paris in just about 2 weeks! I bet you even the crappiest cup of coffee taste better in Paris. I’ll be sure to let you know.
And in the meantime, this week marks 4th of July Friday in which I will be cohootin’ with my fellow comrades in the darn tootin’ state of Ten.I.See. Where I think the only Ten.I’ll.See is in the temperature…with an extra zero added on for good measure. Luckily my ‘Merica shirt and Daisy Dukes will only result in me sweating 1/2 a gallon per minute instead of a full one.
But that means a 14 hour car ride until I get there. Remember that time where I said once was enough after driving to and from Alabama? Clearly my peanut butter clogged mind doesn’t either since I’m submitting myself to this again. Can I get a Amen for best friends that fly you home so you can get home in time to replicate the airport scene from Home Alone before departing for France?
AMEN TO YOU SISTA!
I’m still glad I get the chance to go down and see how my dear friend Katie is planting her Southern roots. I’ll be driving down with 3 other friends so we will have plenty of music, comradery, and oh yeah, delicious snacks from who else but that food obsessed blogger chic.
On behalf of being a blogger for the Blue Diamond TasteMakers, I had the opportunity to try out their Blueberry & Toasted Coconut Almonds for their “Summer Fun” theme which includes all fun and festivities that are happening to start off the Summer.
Roses are red. Blueberries are…blue. I love this trail mix and soon you will too!
I know, I know. Why didn’t I go into poetry, right? Name me one famous poet of this decade…… EXACTLY.
Plus I just like eating food more than rhyming with it.
Aaaaany way, I thought “Well blueberries are blue, coconut is white….all we need is some red and…”
I knew this trail mix was happening just in time for me to munch my way down to Tennessee.
- 1/2 cup Blue Diamond Coconut Almonds
- 1/2 cup Blue Diamond Blueberry Almonds
- 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries (or cherries/blueberries)
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
- Serve in 1/2 cup servings.
- Category: Snack
- Serving Size: 1/2 cup
I used a combo of dried cherries, cranberries, and blueberries since I had a bag from my NatureBox waiting for a purpose. And the coconut flakes I found at good ol’ Trader Joe’s..Because they WOULD have unsweetened coconut flakes.
I opted for unsweetened coconut since both the dried berries and almonds were sweetened I felt it unnecessary to make this a sugary overloaded snack. I mean I was to eat this in a 14 hour car ride. There’s only so many windows you can bounce off of before you need the find the first Play Place to cannonball into the ball pit with all that energy. You mean I’m the only one who dreams of this?! AWK-WARD…
And I even put them in these festive wittle bags for all my car companions. Ain’t I just the sweetest? Oh no the South is already coming back. I’M NOT READYYY!!
