Hello Monday, my old friend. Glad you could make it. First off I want to thank all y’all who wished me a Happy Birthday this weekend. It was pretty low-key with a the majority of my time spent with family and food of course. I guess it’s a sign of ripening (because it sounds better than aging) that your birthday is “just another day” instead of runner up to Christmas morning.
I started the weekend off much like how my birthdays have been celebrated for the past oh, 10 years or so. Breakfast at
Ever since I fell obsessed with all things 50’s when I was about 10, MaryAnne’s filled my little heart and stomach with vintage gas station signs, Shirley temples, and pancakes the size of a hub cap. And I always got the same thing: 2 scrambled egg whites, wheat toast, homefries, and a choco chip pancake.
I’ve since ex-nayed the pancake for food coma reasons, but cannot give up the homefries. I compare every home-fried tater I have to Maryanne’s, but they still don’t compare.
I was also uber excited that Papa John & Lisa got spoiled me with a new Hybrid bike!
I’ve been riding my ‘girls’ bike since I got it at Toys R Us 10 years ago (not kidding), so I guess it was time to accept the fact that I should probably get a women’s bike. I immediately took it for a test drive, and while it took some getting used to, I was on bike No. 9.
I spent the rest of the day with some of my family at my aunt’s house which is always a good time. Sunday morning started off just as nice as my pre-birthday breakfast did.
MJ bought some pumpkin spice waffles and fruit kabobs for me along with lots of coffee. The waffles were delish, and not too overly sweet or spicy. It did remind me of my elementary school days of chowing down on toaster waffles while practicing for my spelling test. I still don’t know if I can spell museum correct (hazah for spellcheck).
We spent the day together and got some Mexican per my request. We tried a new spot in town which was ehh. The food was good, but the fact that our waiter was snarky, yes snarky and I had to fight off flies for my fajitas and guac turned me off. I still got my food so all is well in the world.
We ended up looking for a pumpkin to carve at a farm stand where I found something 10 times better than any jack-o-lantern could ever dream of. Cabbage the size of a planet.
I highly resisted buying one since I would probably end up with a gaseous food baby to rival Kate and her little league team after eating half of it in one sitting. And I ran out of peanut butter. Not a good day.
Lastly I got to see my long lost blondie half, Katie who recently moved to Tennessee. I tried to kidnap her so she wouldn’t be able to go back, but I forgot my masking tape at Christian Grey’s place…
Thanks for the great weekend, and see ya Wednesday!!
What were your plans for the weekend?
