Howdy-do, sweet cheeks! Are we feeling chipper and dapper this morning? Got our happy pants on? Putting our best…okay I’ll shut up now. Just drink your coffee.
Forgive me for being so joyous this early on a Monday morning, but I had a breakthrough this weekend which is a game changer for this gal. As you may be aware, I have been nursing a stress fracture with one of my legs for a few weeks now.
I took a break from Insanity and running since every workout left me limping like Tiny Tim the next morning. After avoiding any activities that left me reaching for a tiny little crutch I took a chance this weekend to test my leg’s status. It’s safe to say we can now change our facebook status from ‘it’s complicated’ to ‘in a relationship’. No more pain!
I took a nice long bike ride on Saturday that I felt like I could have kept going all day if I had a butt made out of memory foam and a few handfuls of trail mix (with m & m’s of course).
I just bought my first
torture device foam roller which I barely survived. Really. I’m pretty sure my neighbors probably thought I was passing a gallstone by the groans and moans I was making with each roll over my quads. BUT, no shin pains. I celebrated by polishing off the rest of the tortilla chips and the rest of my enchiladas. Santitas are simply the greatest. Best two bucks you’ll ever spend.
And off to spend the rest of the day getting my retail therapy on. Some may go to Target to get everything they didn’t need, I go to Food Markets.
I found a place called A Market in Manch that seems like the closest thing to a Co-Op around here so I had to check it out. Of course I bought a good dose of things I didn’t need but did want to try so what the hay! I left with a bag of puffed kamut cereal, some nutritional yeast, candied ginger, a small bit of goji berries to try, vegan mini choco chips, and Justin’s PB cups. Quite the haul of unnecessary foods, but I had to scope it out for my foodie needs.
I also got my very first Kombucha. I had bugged Karey about what to try since I know she knows her stuff, and I settled on a ginger flavor.
Despite my fear of these it was pretty tasty. Like if juice had carbonation and a shot of apple cider vinegar in it, it would taste like this. It’s just the whole living organisms floating around in there that gives me the shivers. Once I forget that part I think I could enjoy these more often.
I spent the night with my broski for dinner where I got a giant grilled veggie sub and watermelon martini. I could only finish half of that food baby because I swear there is a sub roll soaking up all them juices under that garden of veggies.
Then we spent the night reliving our childhood by googling every TV show theme song and commercials we grew up watching. Are You Afraid of the Dark or Legends or Carmen San Diego anyone?
So after a pain free night I pushed it to the ultimate test with a run. I settled on 3.5 miles since I hadn’t been running in quite sometime. Despite taking a walking break about 2 miles in after feeling like my ribs were going to explode and expecting to vomit when I finished, there still was no pain for the cursed leg. Maybe pink is my lucky color.
Sooo, that’s the long winded answer to why I am in a good mood today. And with that I am finally getting to start T25 today. Papa John and I watched through the first workout and it looks far less intense than Insanity and doable for both of us and our injuries. And 25 minutes is my kinda workout!
And that my friends, is your weekend update. I’m Emily Cooper signing off. Make it a great day folks!
Have you ever had any injuries?
