Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday. What am I gunna do with you. I think Amy Poehler would know…
I know I’m a few years behind the times, but I recently discovered the amazingness of Parks & Rec. Baby Mama and Mean Girls are probably my favorite movies of all time so it shouldn’t have surprised me that I would love anything Amy Poehler is in.
Yesterday we FINALLY had a break through in this never ending New England winter. Sunny and
75 …55, but hallelujah Spring is on the horizon!
Now that it is oh-fficially April, that means that the Fitfluential #FFMARCHMILES has reached it’s end.
Every month Fitfluential hosts a different fitness challenge and March was all about the mileage. 100 miles spent either walking, running, or hiking for the month of March.
I posted my check in about halfway through the month with my spreadsheet to track my mileage with about 46 miles to go to the end of the month. You can read my other posts about the challenge here and here.
I guess the timing couldn’t have been worse since I had my first running injury of a stress fracture. While it wasn’t a major injury, running or putting more stress on it (ahem, Insanity) will lead to really being down for the count.
I swapped a lot of my runs for biking since it didn’t bother my shin and I could really log in some miles. I really think I could ride my bike all day in this kind of weather. Except I would prefer running up hills rather than biking up them. At least I don’t have the chance of tipping over as my legs give out if I run instead of bike.
I also start every morning with a 25 minute walk before I start work. It helps wake me up and start the day on the right foot (pun intended because I’m snarky).
So now I know you all are wondering..did I reach the 100 mile mark? Well… drum roll please…
Yes ma’am! With 15.5 miles to spare! You can see a lot of them were spent walking and recently some circuit workouts as my leg started to bother me less and less. But no matter what, my little pink feet crossed the 100 mile mark.
How do I feel?
Pretty boss. Did I wish every mile was spent running? Yes. But I respect my body far more than any challenge or runner’s high that may come. Running will always be waiting for me when I’m ready and slowly but surely I am returning my relationship with it.
No matter what it’s still pretty sweet to see how the miles add up and motivated me to stick to it and knock dem miles back. Now I’m on to April’s walking challenge at work to see which school can walk the most steps in 8 weeks. I think I already proved I’m a pretty good contender. This sneaks are made for walkin’.
Make it a great day!
