This Caramel Apple Smores Recipe shows you how to make the perfect fall dessert to eat around a campfire or party. Made with fresh apple slices, caramel topping, roasted marshmallows, and cinnamon sugar graham crackers, these homemade s'mores are a must for the season!

    Caramel Apple S'mores with Apples

This recipe was originally published in 2014, but has since been updated.

Caramel apples + S'mores. No weird ingredients or special diet requirements. Just a heck of a lot of goodness in between two grahams.

What makes these caramel apple smores delicious

    • marshmallows
    • caramel topping
    • apple slice
    • cinnamon graham crackers

How to make these caramel apple smores

Start by breaking your cinnamon graham crackers into squares. Heat caramel topping in microwave for 30 seconds, or until warmed. Top each with 1 tablespoon of caramel topping (the kind for ice cream), and set aside. Next, you'll want to roast your marshmallows over a fire to your desired doneness. If you don't have a fire available, or want to make these super quick, you can also melt the marshmallow in the microwave. Just place the graham cracker squares on a microwave-safe plate, and top each with a marshmallow. Microwave for 10-15 seconds (keep a close eye on them!) until marshmallow starts to puff, then assemble the rest.

Add your cooked 'mallow to the graham cracker topped with caramel, and add a fresh apple slice. Top with the remaining graham cracker square, and enjoy!

    Pro Tips

    • My favorite kind of apples to use for these are either granny smith, macintosh, or honeycrisp.
    • If you're not having a campfire, you can also melt the marshmallows in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. See instructions above.

    FAQs

I don't have an open flame I can use. Is there any other way to make these s'mores?

Yes! See the tips in "How to make these caramel apple smores" for tips about how you can make these in the microwave instead.

Can these be made ahead of time?

I guess technically they can be, but I do not recommend it. The apples will start to brown, and can make the rest of the s'more mushy. I suggest only making them when you are ready to enjoy for best quality.

Money-Saving Tips for these Caramel Apple Smores

Shop seasonally. Fall is the best time to make these since apples are in season! Use ones that you picked, or find which apples are on sale this week for the recipe.

Use store brand. Opt for store brand when it comes to the graham crackers or marshmallows for a more budget-friendly option.

I have tried one brand (I can't think of the name for the life of me) and they were really good! They did not melt as easily, but the taste was spot on!
