These nine DIY gift ideas are not only inexpensive, but will make any food lover happy this holiday season. Christmas has never been this easy..or delicious.
Happy Fri-yay Friends!
Having a mid-week vacation day really throws off your work week.
I went from putting on my Monday pants to my Friday night sweats….only to find out it was Thursday. Way to kill the vibe.
I did however, fully enjoy my day off with some misty day beach explorations, and an epic brunch at Bayside American Cafe, otherwise known as Bintliff’s.
I got the smoked salmon plate, with scrambled eggs, hummus, fried capers, and a slice of their homemade bread that made Texas toast look like a crepe.
And now it’s ACTUALLY Friday…and I’m already talking about the holidays.
I know, I know. Don’t roll your eyes at me just yet.
I’m not one to usually even mutter the C word until after Thanksgiving, but maybe it’s the fact that I haven’t stepped foot into a mall or department store in a month, or the lack of basic cable and avoidance of Black Friday commercials every 2.5 seconds..but I’m holding back my Christmas cheer with all my might at this point.
I am one however, to always start planning out Christmas gifts mid-July….okay mid-January.
I make a lot of handmade gifts, and use my free rewards points on amazon gift cards, so making sure I have the time and free money to spend on people requires some preparation.
And I really like food. And people who also really like food. Lucky for you, I’m also cheap money-savvy, so you don’t have to shell out half your paycheck and your left kidney to get everyone on your list something they’ll enjoy.
And if they don’t like food……four words my friend. The. Tribe. Has. Spoken.
Infused Olive Oils – Just Putzing Around the Kitchen
I got a set of infused olive oils last year for Christmas and let me tell you, they make SUCH a difference. Making your own is not only cheaper, but you can create your own mixes that you know your friends and family will love….And keep one for yourself while you’re at it. 😉
Vegetarian Five Bean Soup Mix – Back To Her Roots
Nothing is more comforting when there’s a nip in the air, and you can’t wear anything less than three layers, than a bowl of soup. Except, wrapping up a can of Campbell’s isn’t exactly the most original or heartfelt gift out there.
Enter, soup in a jar! Plus, anything homemade and in a jar is automatically adorable. I love doing up a basket with a jar of this soup mix, a couple festive dollar store bowls, spoons, and a crusty loaf of bread. Plus, Cassie gives you these cute printable labels fo’ free!
Dip Mix Ornaments – Bubbly Nature Creations
OMG how flippin’ adorable are these?! Plus, I love how they can double as ornaments too! Although, mine probably wouldn’t last through to Christmas Eve. I just like dipping. Dipping is my favorite.
Gingerbread Granola – Minimalist Baker
I don’t think I’ve yet to meet someone who cannot keep their hands out of a bag of seemingly innocent granola. Especially when you slap a seasonal flavor like gingerbread in front of it. Consider it demolished, pretty much as soon as it comes out of the oven. You’ve been warned.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Balls – Sinful Nutrition
Screw the popcorn garland nonsense. Cover that ish in melted chocolate and peanut butter, and give the gift of peanut butter chocolate popcorn addiction this year.
Wrap these up in festive plastic wrap or stack into holiday tins, and prepare to make these every damn year for the rest of your life.
Cinnamon Sugar Candied Nuts – Damn Delicious
If the only reason you make these is for the sheer bliss that will be wafting from your oven into your nostrils, that is reason enough. And being the favorite of this year’s secret Santa never hurts the ego.
Healthy Cookie Dough – immaEATthat
Enter adorable jar gift number 2. I can’t say how much I love this recipe enough. Kylie makes healthy cookie making as easy as one, two, DEVOUR.
Plus, your guests can enjoy your gift any ‘ol day they please, and not have to worry about giving Santa all the leftover stale cookies…Or they can do that too, and leave the good stuff for themselves. I can’t promise Christmas 2016 won’t be free of tube socks and toothbrushes though.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Covered Strawberries – Sinful Nutrition
Why should Valentine’s Day get all the chocolate covered strawberry love?! All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, and a dozen of these babies so I have something to eat with my new veneers.
You can even drizzle them in red and green white chocolate for an extra festive look…Mine however, never lasted that long.
