12 Must-Make Holiday Desserts That Actually Aren’t Cookies

December 9, 2016 by Emily Cooper 2 Comments

12 Holiday Desserts That Aren’t Actually Cookies — Treats to treat yo’ self with, when you are burnt out on holiday cookies.

Happy Fri-yay!

By gosh by golly, can you believe there’s only 2 Fridays left before Christmas?! This both excites and stresses me out on so many levels.

It’s all okay though, because we have the ‘zerts!

Yessir, today I’m sharing some ballin’ shot-callin’ desserts, no cookies allowed.

Don’t get me wrong, I make DOZENS of holiday cookies every year, but sometimes you want to bring something other than chocolate crinkles and peanut butter blossoms to a party. Here’s 12 ways you can!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Balls – Sinful Nutrition

Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Balls Recipe — A sweet treat made with no refined sugar or oil. Warning: These never last too long, so be prepared to make a double batch!

These should seriously consider a legal name change to magical crack bars. One bite magically turns into an entire pan gone. I don’t know how they do it?!

Healthy Ferrero Rocher Truffles – Food, Pleasure, & Health

Healthy Ferrero Rocher Truffles + more holiday dessert recipes that aren't cookie!

I have busted through a many towers of these glorious golden balls of wonder, but now I can skip the embarrassing pile of golden wrappers, AND feel a little bit of dignity after eating these beauts.

Award Winning Apple Cranberry Mini Pies – Bite of Health Nutrition

These cutie pies (see what I did there..) didn’t win an award for nothin’! Plus, ain’t nobody gunna be made about getting their own individual pie.

Chickpea Gingerbread Buckeyes – Dishing Out Health

I don’t think it is officially a holiday until someone breaks out the buckeyes. Sneaking in some legumes is a one way ticket to having the healthiest and best dessert of the entire table.

Gingerbread Cookie Dough Dip – Sinful Nutrition

Healthy Gingerbread Cookie Dough Dip -- No flour, no refined sugar, or oils. Dig into this festive dessert dip without the guilt! #vegan #glutenfree

Okay, this may have SOMEthing to do with cookies, but is actually so much better than actual gingerbread. Because, you can eat it with your spoon (or finger), and that’s what dreams are made of.

Peppermint Brownie Batter Truffles – The Real Food Dietitians

Peppermint is so in this season, and bite-sized brownie balls are never out of style. And seriously, how flippin’ cute are these?!

Gingerbread Donuts with Eggnog Glaze – KH Nutrition

Forget the cookies this year. To really get on Santa’s good side, leave him a plate of these donuts. You may find your stocking filled with Benjamins instead of coal this year.

Vegan Gingerbread Brownies – Diary of an Ex-Sloth

Because we all have that indecisive vegan friend… Sometimes I wish that were me, just for a reason to make these decadent brownies.

Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie – Miss Allie’s Kitchen

During the holidays, we shouldn’t stress about the small stuff. Like deciding between chocolate chip cookies, and a slice of pie. Moral of the story, make this and zip it.

Sweet & Salty Christmas Tree Bark – Whole Health Hacks

You could stud crayons and dental floss in this sheet of dark chocolate, and I’d still devour it. Luckily, this one is far more festive and edible.

Pecan Pie Rice Krispie Treats – Sinful Nutrition

Pecan Pie Rice Krispie Treats -- Two classic dessert recipes join forces to make these addictingly sweet and gooey bars. No marshmallows required! | @sinfulnutrition #vegan #glutenfree

The sticky fingers, face, clothes, and feet (?) are soo worth it for an extra-large serving of one of these bad boys.

Slow Cooker Poached Pears with Low Sugar Pomegranate Sauce – Abbey’s Kitchen

Maybe elegant and sophisticated is more your style than covered in sticky syrup. Serving up these festive and healthy poached pears will knock the long johns off your dinner party guests.
